Morning Glory Milking Farm

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Okay, after seeing this make the rounds on Bookstagram, I had to see what the fuss was about. I’m just going to put this out there, I’ve never been all that interested in monster romance, but after hearing all about this author and her previous book, Girls Weekend, featuring elves and orcs and then hearing all the hype about this one, I had to give it a chance once I saw it was on KU. I mean, that’s just practical, right? I mean, I love a good PNR and a good alien story, so this couldn’t be that different, right? It was different, but I didn’t hate it – however, if you’re not into the slightly weird or want a tame story, this might not be for you.

So, our heroine is down on her luck, living in the big city, wondering how she’s going to find a job to pay her bills when presented with an opportunity as a technician at Morning Glory Milking Farm – an unconventional job, to say the least, because she’s not milking cows. With the pay and the benefits, she grabs that job with two hands – and she’ll need them because she’s milking minotaur bulls for pharmaceutical purposes. Our hero is a client – can a minotaur be a Stern Brunch Daddy? Because I think this one definitely is. After Violet shows how well she’s paid attention during training, he starts to request her and they develop a friendship and a mutual interest.

Honestly, I could not get the weirdness of a mythical creature/human pairing out of my head the entire time I read this, but I also could not put it down. I picked it up just thinking it’d be a quick erotic story, but what I got was more. There was substance to the story – and it was damn hot. One thing that I appreciated was that there was no conflict, not really. After a slight misunderstanding when they see each other outside of the farm, they are able to talk it out. Communication, who knew it could help? Still a little squicked about the whole minotaur thing – mostly because it’s an animal, albeit a mythical one in an alternate universe. I don’t know if I’ll search out more in this series, but I am kind of intrigued by Girls Weekend, so that might happen. Never say never, right?

From the Goodreads page, CWs include: “cock milking, non-human anatomy, size difference, and a lot of fluid.” I do not disagree with this at all – if you’re not used to it, it’s a lot to take, but if you’ve been introduced to alien/monster/fantasy romance, it should be all good.
