Review: The Pool Boy

The Pool Boy by Nikki Sloane

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well, here we are again with another Nikki Sloane book… and while this isn’t a 6-star book, it’s not far off. I mean, I had tears in my eyes at the end. I did not expect that from this. Not at all.

One thing I’ve noticed about Nikki Sloane’s writing is that she writes a story with parts that make me extremely uncomfortable and yet, she writes in a way that makes me not want to put the book down. I legit had to force myself to close the book and not read through the night last night. And I put down the book a number of times today as I got to parts that made me uncomfortable and picked it right back up after I came to terms with what was going on. This book had a lot of hype on BookTube and Bookstagram last year and I was dubious… until I read it. DAMN. The hype is so very real. I guess I’ll be picking up the first and third books in the series and reading those. shrug We’ve got an older MFC (someone closer to my age, WOOT! Now why don’t we see this kind of age gap more in romance, y’all? I digress) with a young, but not obscenely young, MMC and I. Am. All. For. It. Period. I want more of this, dammit.

I guess I’ll be going on a Nikki Sloane deep dive at some point? 🤣
